The Scriptorium

Created and maintained by a long time medieval re-enactor, the Scriptorium is a place where you can find information on many aspects of medieval life.

Here you can find some recipes to create authentic medieval dishes, the meaning of words you may see in history books and, hopefully, answers to some questions you may have.

From the Facts section

From the Glossary
the skin of any animal which has been prepared as a writing medium. Common skins were sheep, goat, calf and rabbit. This term is completely interchangeable with vellum though some schools of thought regard the cheaper "split" skins as parchment
