The Scriptorium

Created and maintained by a long time medieval re-enactor, the Scriptorium is a place where you can find information on many aspects of medieval life.

Here you can find some recipes to create authentic medieval dishes, the meaning of words you may see in history books and, hopefully, answers to some questions you may have.

From the Facts section
Manners maketh man
The common cinema and TV images of feasters revelling, gnawing bones and quaffing at the table are far from the facts exposed by contemporary writings
From the Glossary
blank-manger
unlike the sweet pudding of today this was made from pounded poultry or other white meat boiled with rice and almond milk and sweetened with honey
